Kids in Church
Welcome!
Kids in Church is our equivalent of Sunday School. It offers a fun way to learn about Christianity for children between the ages of 3 and about 11. All children are welcome - whether they are regular attendees or guests at the church.
Session Structure: The session normally involves a song, a prayer, a short discussion and some creative time. This is based around a bible story. At the beginning of the service the children are invited to the front of the church to each light a candle and sing a children’s song. After this they may return to their seats or go to the Kids in Church session which is held at the back of the church for young children and the vestry for older children (those in school year 2 and above). Parents can pop in to check if their child is happy and children can go to their parents as they wish during the session. Children normally return to their seats during Holy Communion or can go to the Communion rail for a blessing with you or the Kids in Church leader if you wish. There are some sessions where the children get really involved in their work and don’t wish to leave for a blessing but you are welcome to come and collect them from their teaching area if you wish.
Older children (6+) have their session in the vestry (walk through the Lady Chapel and then through the choir area), younger children (3-5yrs) have their session behind the screen at the back of the church.
At Christmas time the Kids in Church children take part in our Christmas Eve Nativity service and there are other opportunities throughout the year where they are given opportunities to take part in services and special events.
We welcome any support and help which Church members, of any age, wish to give. If you would like to help please email: alicecatley2@yahoo.co.uk
CRB: Our leaders are CRB checked by the church.
